Pneumatic Practice IV ( Displacement-

dependent control of a double-acting

cylinder,
impulse valve, cylinder switch )
EXPERIMENT OUTCOME:
a. conveys knowledge on the application of relay in electro-pneumatic
controls.
b. construct the actual circuit as per given circuit diagram.
c. report the observation of experiment.
PROCEDURES:
Cylinder switch and an electrically controlled 5/2 directional control impulse
valve are used in this displacement-dependent control of a double-acting
cylinder. The valve solenoids are controlled through relay contacts and not
directly through the signaling elements.
Upholstered furniture are to be tested on their life span.
d. After actuating control switch S3 ( continuous cycle), the piston rod of a
double acting cylinder Z1 extends and after reaching the front end
position retracts again. This procedure repeats itself as long as switch S3
remains “ON”
e. Additional requirement: after briefly actuating push button S0 the
cylinder should extend and retract once ( single cycle )
f. It should be possible to reduce the extension speed
g. An electrically controlled 5/2 directional control valve impulse valve is
used as an actuator. Cylinder switches are available as limit switch
h. The functional diagram is to be draw up, the pneumatic circuit diagram
supplemented, the electric circuit diagram is to drawn up using the
symbols of electrical equipment according to DIN/ISO
RESULT/DATA:
DISSCUSION/OBSERVATION:
The control of a double-acting hydraulic cylinder is described as follows: 1.
When the 4/3 valve is in its neutral position (tandem design), the cylinder is
hydraulically locked and the pump is unloaded back to the tank. 2
A double-acting actuator requires a 4-way valve. A 4-way valve pressurizes and
exhausts two ports interdependently. A 3-position, 4-way valve stops an
actuator or allows it to float.
The 4-way function is a common type of directional co Double-acting cylinders
have a port at each end and move the piston forward and back by alternating
the port that receives the high-pressure air, necessary when a load must be
moved in both directions such as opening and closing a gate. Air pressure is
applied alternately to the opposite ends of the piston ntrol valve for both air
and hydraulic circuits.
CONCLUSION:
The conclusion of the task Displacement-dependent control of a double-acting
cylinder, impulse valve, cylinder switch we able to conveys knowledge on the
application of relay in electro-pneumatic controls and construct the actual
circuit as per given circuit diagram also report the observation of experiment.
