Aim:- Design a Hydraulic circuit using a double acting cylinder and 4/2 hand
operated valve to lift the catton boxes at the loading point.  The raising and lowering
speeds are to be adjustable separately.

Components Used:- 4/2 Hand Lever Valve, Double Acting Cylinder, Flow
Control Valves (2 Nos.), Power Pack.

Theory:- The components used while designing this hydraulic circuit are 4/2 Hand
Lever Valve, Double Acting Cylinder, Flow Control Valves (2 Nos.), Power Pack.

 Power Pack:- The power- pack is composed of two parts one electric motor and
two reservoirs. The electric motor powers the hydraulic system by converting
mechanical power into hydraulic power. The electric motor drives the pump,
which moves the fluid. Fluid pumped under pressure threw the system.

 Flow Control Valve:- A flow control valve is used to maintain a constant flow
rate in a system prone to pressure fluctuations. The flow rate and pressure
remains at a set constant threw out the system.

 Double Acting Cylinder:- This Cylinder converts fluid energy in to

mechanical force. This cylinder has two separate chambers for hydraulic fluid,
which acts against each other. The cylinder is controlled by hydraulic fluid
entering from the ports A and B.

 4/2 Hand Lever Valve:- This directional control valve consists of four ports
and two states. This valve is controlled manually by a selector rod. Port P is the
inlet. Port A and B are outlet ports, leading to other devices. Port T is outlet port,
leading to tank
Circuit Diagram:-

Observations :-  When the hand lever is kept in 2 position, fluid flows through the
valve to the rear port of the cylinder, the cylinder pushes the piston rod out.
When the hand lever is kept in the 3 position, allowing the fluid to flow through the
valve to the front port of the cylinder.  Then the cylinder piston rod will retract.
Adjust the throttle valve screws and operate the lever valve, here you can observe the
movement of the piston.

Important points to be considered during simulation -

 Pressurized hydraulic fluid should be free from air gaps.

 Components should be arranged in a proper manner.

 Working port P of the 4/2 hand lever valve should be connected firstly.
Result:- Hydraulic circuit using a double acting cylinder and 4/2 hand operated valve
to lift the catton boxes at the loading point has been designed in which the raising and
lowering speeds can be adjustable separately
