DECREASING RATE OF FEMALE SEX RATIO:
10 million female fetuses aborted over the past 20 years in India.
This is extrapolated on the basis of reduction of female to male
sex ratio from 945 per 1000 in 1991 to 745 per 1000 in 2001.
The ratio is even lower in cases where a couple has had a previous
daughter and no sons, dropping it to 650per 1000 for the second
child if the first was a daughter.
And 550 per 1000 for a third child if the first two were daughters.

There has been centuries old reprehensible custom
in this village of killing the girl child.
But 29 years ago, Inder singh bhati and his wife
decided to go against the wishes of the community
that their baby girl will live.
