Dear Friend:

This will be a very difficult year in the Erie County Legislature. Absorbing the impact
of state budget cuts, a looming budget deficit of approximately $20 million in 2012,
and the ongoing fight to challenge the dictatorship of “King Collins” are all issues on
the 2011 horizon. Meanwhile, 2011 is not only an election year, but also the year in
which the Legislature must vote on reapportionment, and we must do so while down-
sizing from 15 members to 11, thus eliminating four seats.

I am committed to fighting Collins’ anti-urban, dictatorial agenda. But I need your

help. As such, I am asking you to join me as I kick off my 2011 re-election campaign
at Vino’s Restaurant on January 31st. I remain deeply grateful for all your previous
support and hope to see you there!

Very Truly Yours,

Maria R. Whyte
Erie County Sixth District Legislator
