An Analysis of Schizophrenic Hallucinations

After several thoughts and considerations, this short work will highlight the habits
and tendencies of hallucinations or the voices of schizophrenics. To begin an assumption
will be made. That assumption is that voices can be treated similar to the functions of a
normal mind. The idea is unusual because voices are commonly thought as hallucinations
or tricks of the mind. Therefore the mind creates within itself a sensory stimulus that is
not present in what is called the empirical world.

The assumption follows the thought of Daniel Dennett; that the mind has the
potential to create other semi-consciousnesses within one brain. If it can contain one, then
why not more? There is no rule against it. One reason why schizophrenia is not very
popular because it was did not give a human being a great advantage to have two minds
or more in our evolution, but it was not so devastating that it was completely taken out of
the gene pool.

To take material view, voices are caused by the firing of neurons in the brain. It is
suspected that the sheaths on neurons have been destroyed in some form, so the electrical
signals fire on their own and randomly. I believe that these neurons could heal but
sometimes create a relay of signals somewhat separate from the dominate consciousness.
This could create an ego or semi-consciousness within the dominate one. That is the
foundation for the assumption that the voice can be treated as a partial ego.
