Much has been said about the attention to detail which is
a signature feature of each of the Sarah Louise
collections. That is true to an even greater extent in these
spring and summer ranges for 2011. Such is the
intricacy that, in many cases, it is sometimes not apparent
at first glance. Why, for instance, go to the trouble of
mirroring a motif in something as small as the stitching of
a button or create additional detailing on what is already
an intricate feature?
It is the cumulative effect. Taken individually each tiny
detail is remarkable in itself but the effect of multiples of
these within a single garment is remarkable. Of course
that observation overlooks the subtly that suffuses the
range. Such an accumulation of detail is not intended to
swamp the senses but rather to create an overall texture
and depth to each design that can be interpreted as a
reflection of inherent quality.
Taking the broader picture, the end of winter ushers in
seasons of renewal and growth and that is reflected in
summer colours, as bright as morning sun through dew
drops, that sit alongside the more traditional hues in
fabrics and knits carefully selected to combine the ultimate
in softness and comfort with the durability that is surely a
key quality of children’s clothes.
Many of the designs are innovative but there is also
much to please the traditionalist and, whilst everything in
the collection has been created to look stunning in
isolation, individual items will readily coordinate to
produce ensembles that are very special indeed.
Within these pages you will find much more than just a
range of children’s clothes. The intention, as ever, has
been to create a collection of classics, whilst rising to the
challenge of improving on what has gone before rather in
the way that an already delicate and fragrant flower can,
in an exceptional year, produce blooms that are nothing
less than stunning.
