Designers For Darfur Sponsorship Proposal 150K-25K
-SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL-
Dear Sponsor,
As we commemorate our 2nd Anniversary, we seek your company’s sponsorship for Designers for
Darfur, an organization committed to using our talents and voices on behalf of the silenced people
of Darfur.
Designers for Darfur in association with the Projects Gallery will present “DESIGNERS & ARTISTS
FOR DARFUR” a collaborative fashion and art exhibition highlighting the industry’s premier and
emerging fashion designers and artists. The mission of this event is to raise awareness and funds
on behalf of the Save Darfur Coalition as they move forward in their efforts to assist the victims
and refugees of Darfur. The exhibition will run from February 13th thru 20th, 2009 during the
fashion industry’s most visible event, New York Fashion Week. The exhibition will be capped off
with a Closing Ceremony and Auction to be held on February 20th, 2009.
As a sponsor of the DESIGNERS & ARTISTS FOR DARFUR exhibition your company will have the
unique branding opportunity to promote your product and services to the fashion and art
industries’ elite as well as the world’s most influential decision and taste makers. Sponsorship
benefits include extensive press coverage, prominent name and product placement throughout the
event, program book advertisements, sample product distribution, inclusion in press releases to be
sent globally, and massive internet marketing. Most importantly, you will be supplied with the
opportunity of sending a resounding message that your organization is playing an active role in
ending the crisis in Darfur.
Designers For Darfur was founded in 2006 by designer Malcolm Harris (Mal Sirrah, Inc.) and co-
chaired by model/heiress Lydia Hearst. In association with Fashion Television and the Save Darfur
Coalition, Designers For Darfur was launched via an unprecedented charity fashion show held on
February 9, 2007 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Designers For Darfur now
represents hundreds of international designers and the wider fashion community collectively
banding together to show their commitment and solidarity towards ending the atrocities currently
taking place in Darfur.
For the past thirteen years, New York City has hosted New York Fashion Week an event that was
originally created with a mission to organize, centralize and modernize the American (Fashion)
Collections and provide a platform for American fashion designers to become major players in the
global fashion business.
New York Fashion Week now attracts a record number of global industry executives, national and
international press as well as celebrities and high-profile individuals from every corner of the
globe. This biannual event generates and garners thousands of articles and hundreds of hours of
television coverage.
Around the country and across the globe, the Save Darfur Coalition is inspiring action, raising
awareness and speaking truth to power on behalf of the people of Darfur. Working with world
leaders, we are demanding an end to the genocide, and our efforts are getting results.
Save Darfur Coalition utilizes media outreach, public education, targeted coalition building
and grassroots mobilization to persuade policymakers and other decision-makers in the
United States and abroad in an effort to help and save the people of Darfur.
According to recent estimates, at least 400,000 people have died in Darfur since the genocide began in
February of 2003. It is impossible to know what the final number will be, as unfortunately the genocide is
still taking place today. What is known is that there are approximately 3.5 million men, women and
children in the western Darfur region of Sudan trying to survive the Sudanese government-sponsored
campaign of violence and forced starvation.
These innocent victims are essentially on life support, their continued existence dependent on U.S. and
international humanitarian aid and the presence of African Union peacekeepers. Despite the best efforts
of the under-funded and under-manned African Union peacekeeping force, attacks have increased in
recent months, leading to tens of thousands of new arrivals at refugee camps in Darfur and across the
border in Chad.
