KHARGE CHAIRS 151ST MEETING OF THE ESI CORPORATION

The Union Minister of Labour & Employment Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Chaired
the 151st Meeting of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation in New Delhi Today.
Shri Harish Rawat Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Vice Chairman ESIC
was also present in the meeting.
Addressing the 151st meeting of the ESI Corporation, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge,
Minister of Labour and Employment said that the ESI scheme is on the path of
accelerated growth. Social security needs of more than 1.43 crore Insured Persons are
being looked after by the ESIC. The number of beneficiaries including family members
covered under the Scheme is now 5.54 crores. The Corporation has spent an amount of
Rs. 2053.86 crores on medical and cash benefits of insured persons and their family
members during the year.
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation today approved its Annual Report
and Annual Accounts for the year 2009-10 for submitting to the Central Government for
laying on the table of the both Houses of the Parliament. The 151st meeting of the
Corporation also approved the easy procedure for claiming benefits by the covered
employees and for registration etc. of the covered employers by simplifying the
Regulation Forms used by these two important stakeholders.
The major achievements of the ESI Corporation includes – provision of super-
specialty treatment, enhancement of benefits rates, payments of Permanent Disability
Benefits and Dependence Benefits through Electronic Clearing System, IT Roll-out,
launching of New Amnesty Scheme and Self-Certification Schemes, Grading etc.
