nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, blurred vision, muscle
twitching, usually small pupils, respiratory distress, coma.
ii. Symptoms of Poisoning with High Toxicity Carbamate Compounds
(from an independent source).

10
List ordered alphabetically
iv. Other noted Symptoms:
1. Overexposure effects:
a. After inhalation of vapours or aerosols effects appear
within minutes: ocular and respiratory effects generally
appear first. This include marked miosis, ocular pain,
conjunctival congestion, diminished vision, ciliary
spasm and brow ache.
2. With acute systemic absorption:
a. Miosis may not be evident due to sympathetic discharge
in response to the hypotension. In addition to rhinorrhea
and hyperemia of the upper respiratory tract, respiratory
effects consist of “tightness” in the chest and wheezing
respiration, caused by the combination of broncho-
constriction and increased bronchial secretion.
3. Gastrointestinal symptoms occur earliest after ingestion, and
include anorexia, nausea and vomiting, abdominal cramps, and
diarrhoea.
4. With percutaneous absorption of liquid, localised sweating and
muscular fasciculation in the immediate vicinity are generally
the earliest manifestations.

ii. Notice to Physician:
1. This material contains both a cholinesterase inhibitor and a
solvent. Atropine, only by injection, is the preferable antidote.
Oximes, such as 2-PAM/protopam, may be therapeutic if used
early; however, use only in conjunction with atropine. If lavage
is performed, suggest endotracheal and/or oesophageal control.
Danger from lung aspiration must be weighed against toxicity
when considering emptying the stomach. Supportive care.
Treatment based on judgement of physician in response to
symptoms of patient.
