Maruti Suzuki which controls slightly over half of the
domestic car market in the country has said that it would design SMALL CARS suitable for the Indian conditions as a strategy to beat the stiff competition with the entry of global auto makers. The company's annual report also emphasised its growing focus on the EXPORT market. Maruti Suzuki is looking to make India an exclusive base to manufacture small cars for Europe. Maruti Suzuki India limited keen to retain its 50% market share has proudly announced its expansion plans for the coming years. The company announced the expansion of Manesar plant in addition to the Rs 1,700 crore, 250,000-unit line at the same facility the firm had announced in March. Mr R C Bhargava, Chairman MSIL says indicated that the company is working on more FUEL-EFFICIENT engines, which would offer more than the current 20 km to a litre and lesser carbon dioxide emissions. It would be launching compact cars with more features to meet the needs of the customers locally.
