Earlsfort is lead by Consultant Geriatricians and is suited for individuals

with urgent but stable medical conditions.
It is a GP referred service for insured patients over the age of 65.

The following conditions are

ideally suited to this service:

• Faints

• Falls

• Dizziness

• Cognitive Decline

• Weight Loss (unexplained)

• Palpitations

• Specific and non-specific pain

• Any condition where GP feels a

• Geriatric opinion is merited
 Your consultation at Earlsfort Clinic will take between 1-3 hours depending on the diagnostic
scans required.
The cost of your consultation at is €360.
Patients GP’s will receive a dictated letter from our Geriatric consultant outlining all medical
findings and a future medical plan within a week of your consultation.
During your consultation the following tests will be conducted:
Full Medical and Nursing Assessment which includes:
• Full blood screen: FBC, U&E, Thyroid function, ESR,
Cholesterol levels, PSA (in males only), Iron studies
• Urinalysis
• ECG reading
• Blood pressure: lying and standing readings
• Peak flows
• Barthel Index
• Mini mental State Exam
• Blood glucose testing
• Weight
• Height measurement
• 24 hour Holter Monitor (if deemed appropriate)
• 24 hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor
(if deemed appropriate)
• Echo (Covered by VHI)
• MRI (need to be insured)
• CT
• X-Rays
• Ultrasound
• Myometer readings
• Body Composition Analyser
All diagnostic work will be conducted on the same day where possible and is insured by VHI, Aviva, Quinn, ESB and the
Guards health insurance.
For uninsured patients all diagnostic assessments are carried out at a discounted fee
