Dr. Brkanac has made progress in establishing himself as an independent investigator
during this third year of his career development award. He has been first author on a publication that is directly relevant for his research, and another publication on which he is corresponding author is currently under review. Dr. Brkanac’s newly established laboratory has provided complimentary resources to our group, and generated genotype data using TaqMan Methodology that was included in his first-author publication. Dr. Brkanac has continued to make progress on the work outlined in his Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award. His project work, research development and clinical work are proceeding on schedule, and he is establishing new collaborations within the Department of Psychiatry and the Division of Child Psychiatry. I am very pleased with Dr. Brkanac’s performance and believe that he is a great asset to our institution. I will continue to provide him with the guidance and support necessary to establish his career as an independent clinician scientist.
