Big Rock Surf Clinic

Rocked The Big One

The Club held a junior surfing clinic at Big Rock on

Sunday 16th October in conjunction with Surfing WA &
Brownes Chill.

The clinic was booked out and the grommets lucky enough to get in were treated to the best Big Rock
imaginable for the little kids, with glassy con-
ditions and small waves at this normally tricky
surf break.

About 27 kids attacked the the waves under

the guidance of Mike McAuliffe & Mick Short
who with the Surfing WA guys really helped
the kids with their technique and the ways to
approach surfing.

The conditions improved during the day and a

pod of sperm whales swam past to make it all
the more special for the kids who had travelled
from throughout the South West for this event.

After the clinic the kids & parents went up to the Jones
Homestead for a debrief & to watch themselves on
video (for the first time for many). The kids learnt A friendly Sperm Whale looks on
stacks from this and the Cowaramup Boardriders will
use video film in further contests after seeing its worth
on Sunday.

Surfing WA also presented the kids with a stack of cool

prizes.

We hope to hold another of these clinics in the Chris-

tamas holidays. A special thanks to Surfing WA’s Darryn
Brook Yateman shows his form again
Quigley & Brownes Chill for supporting this great event.
