Dear Parent/Carer

Mentoring Programme

Between now and the SQA examinations in May we offer an extra support to some S4
pupils through our Mentoring Programme. A number of staff have kindly volunteered
to act as mentors. This is not extra subject teaching but rather the mentors aim to
support the pupils by helping them plan their revision, give advice on areas of concern
in their learning and set weekly targets.

It is particularly targeted at pupils whose current level of achievement is falling

concerningly below expectations. It requires commitment on behalf of the pupil to
attend a weekly meeting with their mentor at a mutually convenient time, usually 15-
20 minutes during the lunch break, and to undertake any action points identified by
the mentor.

If you would like your son/daughter to be considered for mentoring and they are also
keen to participate please return the slip below to your child’s register teacher by
Friday 4 February.

In the area of general support subjects offer a range of revision opportunities during
the school day. Pupils are made aware of these by subject staff. Details of these are
put on the Extra Curricular section of the school website. We also plan to run a
programme of revision classes during the Easter holidays as we have in previous
years. Details of these will be issued prior to the Easter break.

Yours sincerely

J YOUNG
