Mrs. Onajide owns Pageant Boutique, a sole proprietorship business that sells clothing, shoes, and accessories. She was inspired to start the business because of her interest in fashion and belief that people should feel confident in what they wear. When starting the business in 2009, she faced difficulties in obtaining capital, finding a good location, and getting permission from the government. Currently, the business sells various men's and women's clothing and accessories. Mrs. Onajide's future plan is to expand to three additional locations in Lagos.

Olamide: Good morning Ma Mrs. Onajide: hello Olamide: I am here to interview you about how it is to be a sole trader, what inspired you to become one and the difficulties you face in being one. Mrs. Onajide: I will be happy to answer all your questions. Olamide: What is the name of your business? Mrs. Onajide: Pageant Boutique Olamide: What a wonderful name… What inspired you to give you to start up a business of your own? Mrs. Onajide: Well… I am interested in Fashion and you know in Nigeria some people are not aware of what they wear and its quality but they want it for cheap prices but it is my believe that you should not leave you house if you don’t look good and the clothes I sell are of good quality and I believe that when you wear the clothes that I sell you will be able to admire the quality of it and it will make you feel like you are on a runway and it makes you feel beautiful and radiant. Olamide: When was your business established? Mrs. Onajide: My business was established on the 3rd of November 2009. It has always been a dream of mine to start up my own business even though I was aware of the difficulties that I would face. Olamide: You mentioned that you knew there would be difficulties when you started your business. What were the difficulties that you faced? Mrs. Onajide: There were so many difficulties that I faced when I decided to start up my business: Capital to start the business, the location of the business, registering of my business to the government and waiting for permission from the government to allow my business to be setup. At first I didn’t have a location to start my business and it took months to find a certified location that could fit the schedule of my clients. Olamide: What is the nature of your business? Mrs. Onajide: I deal with Office shirts for Men and Women, Skirt suits, Men suits, Ties, cufflinks, Shoes of all sizes (Men and Women), Perfume, Bags etc. Olamide: What are the future plans for your business? Mrs. Onajide: I want to expand my business at least to have 3 other branches in Lagos at least that is what I have planned and I am working towards it. Olamide: Thank you for your time Ma Mrs. Onajide: No problem.
