Organization of Modern Casting Media also known as OMCM. Today’s webinar is entitled
Sagesse: Industry, Politics, and Tragedy.
Before we start I would like to share a bit about the title of this webinar. Sagesse is from a
French word that means “Knowledge” because our main goal is to share information and
awareness about business, government, and hazards. As we encounter these kinds of
scenarios on a daily basis. By discussing such topics, we will be able to raise awareness about
the current situations within our environment. Mr.Macatangay, Mr.Ulanday, and Ms.Anjao will be
joining us for today’s webinar as our speaker.

MC: Thank you Mr. Gabrielle. To avoid communication breakdowns, here are some reminders
we need to observe.

REMINDERS:
- Keep your cameras and microphones off throughout the webinar unless you are asked
to do so.

- Always be mindful and respectful to the speakers, hosts and the presenters.

- Participation is required.

SPEAKER TIME:
MC: At this juncture, we will hear from the experts. We have invited professionals from different
places to talk for today's webinar session. After every discussion, we will be choosing 1 student
who can ask for each speaker in the comment box. We would like to encourage everyone to
type in their questions after the delivery. To start the discussion with the Industry, we would like
to call on the first speaker, Mr. Aaron Macatangay, who is a successful entrepreneur and he is
about to share his business experiences to us.

Aaron: Greetings everyone, My name is Aaron James Macatangay, CEO of Sylvie Inc., but
before we start I want to share to you the quotation that helped me to start this business, “The
true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer” - Bushnell, let me explain this well, yung mga goals
pangarap nila. but if you want to be successful in the future you must apply actions to your
ambitions or to your dreams in life. Take risk if needed. If you want to be successful you must
work or do what makes you reach your dreams and that's it, shall we start? I will share you a
little of my background story

At an early age I started to sell some products like clothes and soap but that business didn't go
further and it did not end pretty well and that is when I started to lose that business because no
one was really willing and interested to buy the products which by that time made me hopeless.
I don't have any direction then I pray, right after I pray I found this video which had the title "How
to be a successful entrepreneur" after watching that I realized there's hope, that video opens a
path for me to start again.
Then right after I applied what I learned in that video and it became a routine. The first thing I
did was find out what my ability or talent is. I have talent in cooking, that's how I started. Nag
2013 I started to cook at home taking
orders 1 by 1 and I am the delivery boy too, then I decided to have my own carinderia and that
was 2014 I did not really imagine that my business would go further like that. Slowly I manage to
have a restaurant for larger numbers of customers. It was 2015 and 2016 came. This was a big
break for my business because I needed an office to manage the income of the business.
Actually the products that I am selling are healthy foods from the farm, prepared and cooked
straight to your table. 2016 was the time I also think to have my own delivery crew and expand
my business nationwide.
What is swot the S in the SWOT stands for strengths, W for weaknesses, O for
Opportunities and T for threats.

Unahin muna natin yung strengths mga kalakasan natin. The meaning of the strengths is the
resource that can be used effectively to achieve objectives, we can use strengths to reach our
dreams or objectives in life. I have a set of strengths in me that I wrote, first, Can interact to
many or different kinds of people, I wrote this because I consider it as my strength and being
communicative person is advantage of being a entrepreneur because you will meet different
kinds of people second, I tried other business so I have a experience in the field of selling
products, third, open for criticism, if you are an entrepreneur you should know this, you should
accept that other people might hate you or judge you. Just always find positivity in a negative
situation, fourth, Risk taker, guys you should take the risk if you want to be successful.

Okay guys let's go for the weaknesses, weaknesses are those you do not perform well or can
prevent you from achieving the company goals and objectives. So take note guys this is
important you should know your weaknesses in order to overcome it, these are my weaknesses
first, inefficient that why I hire someone to do it for me and also why I needed the office. Second,
being lazy, all of us experience this in our daily life but as an entrepreneur you must be active.
Third, always late, I have this bad habit of being late all the time. For the fourth and last I have
this poor time management. I can't handle time or my own schedule.

For the third one is the opportunity, opportunity is the favorable external factors that could give
advantage to the company. The first opportunity on my notes is my business can grow
internationally so our product can push through the world. The second is to give jobs to people.
This is a good opportunity because you give work to the people and the people help you to grow
your business. The third is healthy food gives nutrients to people. This opportunity helps people
to be healthy and they will buy more to be healthy.

Let's go for the fourth one: threats are anything that damage the organization, venture or the
product. The first on the list is other competitor restaurants like Mcdo, KFC, etc. The first is
connected to the second which is, people love to eat junk foods. It's more likely for the children
that don't want to eat vegetables. The third is fake booking today we have 10 cases of
fakebooking every single day. I just hope our government will cover up the issue about fake
booking.

Let's go to the tips on how to be a successful entrepreneur. First, invest in yourself, what's the
meaning of this? Invest in yourself like buy books that will help you to learn how to become an
entrepreneur, watch videos, find a mentor. This is not wasting your money or time, this is called
investing because you can use it in the future. Pangalawa, trust God and trust the process, isa
yun. Third, taking risks is better than waiting for the timing if you feel like this is the time even if
you're not ready just Go. Fourth and last, surrounding yourself with people will help you, like
your family, friends that can lift you up, a mentor to teach you and God do not forget God.

The importance of SWOT analysis first is where you are going to focus on like harnessing your
strengths or overcoming weaknesses. Second, what are you gonna do to fill what is lacking in
you or your company like overcoming weaknesses and preventing threats. Third, to know the
opportunities that lay in your way of becoming a successful entrepreneur. Fourth, minimize the
risk, from the word minimize like minimize the risk if you do those and that. Fifth and last SWOT
analysis helps you to form a plan for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. That's
all. Thank you! I Hope you learned something.

MC: It is time to answer some questions from the comment section. So with that, we will go
ahead and look at the questions in the chat box,,,,,

MC: there are a lot of questions from our students in the chat box,
Oh I found an interesting question. Here is a question from Mr Larry Noda, but first, can you
please turn on your camera and your microphone?

NODA: How do you ensure the cleanliness and quality of your ingredients?
Aaron: Like what I said, it's fresh pick from the farm and cooked and prepared straight to your
tables. We also have PPE's to protect the foods.
NODA: Follow up question po.Lahat ba ng consumer kaya bumili netong product nato?

AARON: yes, you can buy our product for as low as 30 to 50 pesos, and we are also giving
vegetables to those who need it for free.

MC: Thank you for that Mr. Macatangay. After learning some tips regarding industry, let us have
a short break before another discussion. Here is Jolina Bacsa to showcase her talent to us.

(energizer)

MC: Now we will discuss the second topic for this session which is Politics. This is going to be
tackled by a very special guest from the government, please welcome! Senator Luise Angelo
Ulanday.

ULANDAY : Thank you,Good day everyone, thank you for having me. I am Sen. Luise Angelo
Ulanday.

What is the legislative branch?

The process of legislative branch is to enabling a law

What is law?

Section 1, article 6: section one the Philippines constitution. The legislative power shall be
vested in the Congress of the Philippines which shall consist of a Senate and a House of
Representatives, except to the extent reserved to the people by the provision on initiative and
referendum.

Qualifications for Senators

The Senate compose of 24 Senators

Elected at large by qualified voters
And has a 6 years terms in Office and
Has a maximum 2 consecutive terms

On the other

Qualifications for House of Representatives

Is compose of 250 representatives,

234 of this are district Representatives while the remaining 16 are filled by the party list.
Each Representatives has 3 years terms and has a maximum 3 consecutive terms of office
Qualifications for Member

Senators must be-

-Natural-Born citizen of the Philippines

-At least 35 years old
-Able to read and write
-Philippine resident( 2 years resident in Philippines before the election day)
-Registered Voter

Congressmen must be-

-Natural-Born citizen of the Philippines

-at least 25 years old
-able to read and write
-registered Voter in his district ( except the party list)
-resident in his district before the day of election)

Senators also prefer what we call oversight function that's why they always often conduct
investigation and aid legislation.
Oversight means how particular law is complimented by concern agencies.

Senators have the same way they spend your money based on the national budget. So,
the senators should understand how the budget process works. Senators also seat in
commission appointments together with the representatives from the lower house. This
powerful body's tasks are to confirm or reject certain presidential appointments such as
those cabinets members and ambassadors. The Senators should vote in May and well
end up in seats as in impeachment judges if the impeachment case is relegated to the
senate. They think the candidate would make a competent judge of whether to remove
or reticent pitch officials such as president or chief justice.

Senators should then understand how this agreement can work to benefits or disadvantage to
the pilipinos. Of course as a part of congress senators will also a power to declare the existence
of a state of war. This congress can revoke or extended Marshall Law or the suspension of
previllage of the writ of habeas corpus.

Congress assumed over the years have evolved from the expectations of Members and their
constituents. The dynamic nature of the congressional experience, priorities placed on various
Member roles tend to shift in response to changes in seniority, committee assignment, policy
focus, district or state priorities, institutional leadership, and electoral pressures. In response,
the roles and specific duties a Member carries out are often highlighted or de-emphasized
accordingly. Each Member may also emphasize different duties during different stages of his or
her career. With no written requirements, each Member is free to define his or her own job and
set his or her own priorities.

MC:Again, we are going to choose the most interesting question in the comment section that will
be answered by our speaker. Dear Participants, don’t be shy to type in any questions that you
have in mind. Here is a question from Mr. Jayvon Castillon, but first, can you please turn on
your camera and your microphone?

Jayvon: what do you think is the most important role of the social movement that pushes the
government to create a law in order to address the social movement issues?

ULANDAY: Social movement's role is to allow people the opportunity to come together, speak
their mind, and make people aware of an issue that is close to their heart.Just like LGBTQ +
they want to tell the whole world that they deserve to be given equal rights, and make them a
law for their protection. The one of the things LGBTQ + people want to pass on is to have their
own bathroom and because one of them is that men also say that they can't use the men's
bathroom because they feel insulted or harassed when they use the bathroom and they don't
like it. Other women say that they don't want to be allowed to use the Women's Bathroom
because they say They are still men even though They are dressed up as Woman and the heart
of Woman. It must also be fulfilled to give them their bathroom so that there will be no more
disputes about it.

MC: Very well said senator luise but now it's time for us to sit back, relax and admire the beauty
and voice of Reina Rose Capinlac, as she delivers her spoken poetry.

(intermission)

MC: This webinar session is nearly coming to the end but before that this person who is going to
be sharing is the last speaker. She is a “Global Earthquake Model” Ms. Lee Jane Anjao and her
talk will discuss earthquake hazards.

ANJAO: It is my pleasure to be a part of this webinar session. I would like to greet everyone
that is present here a pleasant morning, afternoon and evening. I hope that all of you are doing
okay. To start my talk, here I have added a quote that is related to our topic for today. “Training
proves to be the key ingredient to handling any disaster.” This amazing quote is from Walter
Maddox, Mayor of Tuscaloosa 2013 Virginia Emergency Management Symposium. I will
expound this quote more as we go through. Next slide please.

The first thing that we will talk about is the common hazards of earthquakes.

The following are examples of earthquake hazards; Ground Shaking, Tsunami, Landslides and
Rockfalls, Subsidence and Lateral Spreading and the last one is Liquefaction.

Next slide please.

Here let us take a look at the photos that I have added. The first row shows pictures of
landslides and rockfalls. As you can see, the one on the left side is like sand rushing down a hill.
The picture next to it shows a really huge size of rocks in the middle of a highway which can
cause inconvenience especially to the people who want to pass through it. The photos under it
are both for liquefaction. As we can all see, what happens when liquefaction occurs is that the
vehicles, infrastructures that are above it, will sink down. Why you may ask? liquefaction takes
place when water-logged sediments lose their strength due to a strong ground shaking and so
sometimes it leaves a deep layer of mud. Next slide please.

Okay so in here, the pictures on the upper row are for Subsidence and Lateral Spreading. We
can see that the ground surface has lowered, which often occurs after every earthquake. The
last two at the bottom are the result of ground shaking and the other is a tsunami. Next slide
please.

Here are some of the urbanized areas in the Philippines according to Philippine Statistics
Authority (state all areas).
(ENGLISH VERSION)
The problem when an earthquake
occurs in one of this urbanized areas, where there are a lot of structures and houses, is that if
those structures are not built really well, it makes it to withstand the intense shaking of an
earthquake, what can happen is that it can easily fall down which can be lethal and dangerous
to the people who are living there.
So with that said, the next part of my talk I will explain to all of you what we need to do before,
during and after an earthquake.

Before everything, The first thing that you need to do is to plan and have enough knowledge in
handling serious and dangerous situations. You need to be able plan for the worst case
scenarios so that you are prepared both physically and mentally. Next, before an earthquake
you need to prepare all of the necessities that you need like batteries, flashlight, first aid kit,
canned goods, whistle and of course a radio.

During:
The important thing to remember during an earthquake is to always stay calm. Kailangan

Next
slide please.

After:
You need to check yourself first if you have any injuries. After checking yourself, you can also
check on other people to see if they are in need of first aid .
lakad lakad.

TIPS:
kailangan mong gawin.

Thank You everyone for listening.

MC:Now it’s time to answer people's curiosity about earthquake hazard. Here is a nice question
from Mr. Kenneth Medrano.
Medrano:
Nakaranas na po ba kayo ng lindol?
- Yes I have. I will share my experience to you. The earthquake was not that strong it was
only a mild shaking but I remember saying to my sister to stop moving the bed, Akala ko
Me and my sister waited for the shaking to stop and then we
went outside.

Thankyou for asking that question Mr. Medrano. I am truly grateful to OMCM for inviting me
today. I am Lee Jane Anjao and It was nice meeting you all.

MC: Thank you for that new knowledge Ms.Lee Jane Anjao. The next segment will be a little
reflection and take away. Here is Mr. Earl Dancel, one of the stockholders of OMCM.

EARL: Good morning to all of you, I am thankful and appreciative at the same time for inviting
me here in our enlightening webinar. I would also like to thank all of the speakers who
participate here in our webinar. I learned a lot in Industry, politics, and also in earthquake
hazards.
In industry, Just like Mr. Aaron James Macatangay said that goals start with dreams. You need
to pursue your dreams so you can achieve your goal and be successful. In politics,
understanding the main purpose of the legislative branch enacts legislation, confirms or rejects
Presidential appointments.and lastly,
In earthquake hazards, Familiarize oneself with a knowledge on what to do before, during, and
after an earthquake because this guides will help you increase on surviving an earthquake

MC: Very well said Mr. Earl Dancel. For more insights, here is Ms. Stephanie Estorpe, the
Secretary of OMCM to summarize and add her own conclusion for today's talk.

LOLA STEPH Reflection:

First of all, I am grateful to be able to sit
Participate in this very informative webinar. To all the speakers thank you. Indeed, being able to
speak for what you know is commendable, be it with just one person or more like in this
webinar. Knowledge shared is knowledge multiplied. In one sense, we are all entrepreneurs in
this life, and real entrepreneurs as this wise verse was mentioned by Mr Macatangay in his talk
earlier, we are doer and not only dreamers. We are responsible for making our dreams happen.
We are naturally born as people with great visions, but this vision will remain but visions unless
we begin doing rather than just thinking about it. The importance of understanding the world or
community we are living in, being aware of what is going on, particularly our government, those
who lead us and how they lead us. The more familiar we are with laws and rules, the better
citizens we become. Finally, preparedness for emergencies that can happen anytime. When
calamities strike, it should not catch us off guard. Preparedness will help us survive and
persevere. And once again, if we are real entrepreneurs, we should stop dreaming about this
reflection and put these into practice.
There are still so much more to say, and important things to note, but these are some of the
most significant ones for me. Thank you very much again.

MC: To touch our hearts, here is VJ Gabrielle Santos with his mesmerizing serenade with the
song “Ako’y sayo at ika’y akin lamang”.

(intermission)

MC: To finish this session, we would like to hear from the president of OMCM for the closing
remarks, Ms. President, take it away.

(IrishClosing remarks): It is kinda sad to say that this webinar session is about to end but before
saying a goodbye, I want to thank all of you guys who joined and spent time participating. Also
the speakers for today, Mr. Macatangay, Sen. Ulanday, and Ms. Anjao, it’s been a pleasure
torturing our hearts and minds with all your convoluted statistics and wordy speeches. I hope
you had a great day in making our lives more miserable. Kidding aside, sharings of your
opinions is very well appreciated. I wish we all learned something in this day's webinar session
and try to apply it in our daily lives. I am grateful to have such a creative and cooperative team
which helps me make this webinar possible. Before we all leave here, I will be putting a link of
an evaluation form on the comment section and kindly answer it for you to help us to improve
the future webinar sessions. That is all for today, now let us end this session with a prayer and
the RMCHS Hymn. This is Irish Bianca Macato, the president of the Organization of Modern
Casting Media. Thank you and God bless.
