#Tell me about yourself.

Yes, no problem. First, thank you for inviting me to be interviewed for this position. My name is sena
girma. I have a mechanical engineering degree from ASTU. Starting from the day I was admitted to formal
education I am able to develop skills and qualities that will be an asset to your organization. I am a type
of person who is driven, a team player, and a smart worker. I am driven because I can catch up with a new
role and teach myself new skills from scratch without or with minimum supervision. I am a team player
because I understand the benefits of being involved in a team to complete a task efficiently before the
deadline. And I am a smart worker because I always try to find the easiest possible way to complete a
difficult task with less effort and resources.

For the past three years, I have been working for two different companies. I got my first job at EAT as a
mechanical design engineer. It is a company owned by Ethiopian and Dutch investors in order to supply
and install electro-mechanical equipment mainly for holland owned businesses that are located in
Ethiopia. My main role is to provide technical drawings and instructions for those devices. Currently, I am
working at wonji sugar factory as a junior technical supervisor. Some of my roles include supervising the
overhaul and breakdown maintenance of pumps, gearboxes, and air compressors, planning preventive
maintenance and follow-up lubrication, and calibration of instruments. From both roles, I am able to
develop skills that help me to pass effective decisions and solutions for difficult problems.

In my free time, I like to be involved in different types of social activities like planting trees. For the past 3
consecutive years, I have actively participated in the Ethiopian green legacy campaign promoted by the
prim-minster in order to compact deforestation and global warming. My role in this campaign is to
distribute indigenous seedlings from nurturing centers to highly affected areas.

Currently, I am looking for a challenging and exciting role like the one your company is advertising. If I
your company gives me an opportunity to work in this position, I will make sure you see a positive outcome
from the role soon and try my best to be a role model for other employees also.

#1. Why do you want to leave your current job?

I am leaving my position because I feel like I am reaching my full potential. I have learned so many skills
when working in a team to solve major failures that happen in the factory. I have learned how to become
a creative problem solver at a very critical time. I have also learned. However, as I mentioned, I have
reached my full potential and am now seeking new employment in an organization such as yours where I
will learn new skills and put the skill I already learned to good use.

#2. Describe yourself in three words.

I am driven, a team player, and a smart worker. I am driven because I can catch up with a new role and
teach myself new skills from scratch without or with minimum supervision. I am a team player because I

And I am a smart worker because I always try to find the easiest possible way to complete a difficult task
with less effort and resources.

conflict. I will make sure to listen to the other person’s concerns with an open mind. Then I will take my
turn to explain my standpoint and make sure that he understands my perspective. Work on first on things
we both agree on and then continue to the ones we don’t get to agree. If this does not solve the problem

#7. What is your biggest strength?

I use most of the opportunities I got in life including my failures as a learning experience moment. Keeping
note of my mistake and moving on is better than regretting and discouraging myself not to try again. I
prefer to learn from people’s mistakes before making them myself. In order to learn from people, I will
not hold back to ask any question even if the question seems very silly. Because if I don't ask, I know that
I would regret later for not learning very soon. Every time when I got introduced to a new task, I have a
habit of asking people who have done this task before, what challenges they face and what mistakes they
made, if it’s not available from people that I know, I will Google it and read from a different blog from
people all over the world. I remember that in UV every time I take a new course, I ask the senior student
about it, what is the challenging thing about the course, how they get a reading resource for that course,
and what mistakes they made.
