“I m not an environmentalist,
I m an earth warrior”
INTRODUCTION

............. Robots are supposed to destroy the world, not save it, right? ...............
Don't panic! B'coz we goanna decide the future of the so called machine- THE ROBOT.
Science Fiction has been less -than-kind when it comes to giving robots an
environmentally friendly outlook .
Imagine its 22nd century and the planet is no more salubrious. Nutrition capsules and
oxygen cylinders are now the only sources of survival and that too are inadequate to
meet the necessities of incredibly high population. The eternal balance of nature is about
to cease.
But even in the darkest times shines some light and bring with it hope ..., and that's our
SAVIOR, a farming robot that can plant food crops, etc not only to feed the crowd but
also to raise back the oxygen level in atmosphere.

“Healing earth is like

Healing ourself”

“He who plants a tree,

plants a hope”
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Build a manually controlled machine that can perform following actions:
1. "PLACE IT": Pick a seedling from the YARD and place it at the specified SITES.
2. "STAND IT": Fix the seedling by covering the bottom cylindrical part with soil
around the SITES. Soil is to be covered till the bottom part becomes invisible.
3. "FEED IT": Now, the machine has to rise to a PLATFORM and pour the water
provided at the POOL into the hoppers. The action would be considered only if
water poured is more than 150ml.
Rounds: Machines have to plant seedlings in the least possible time. More
vegetation means more SCORE. (More details will be declared on the spot)

SCORE CALCULATION
SCORE = (15*PLACE IT) + (20*STAND IT) + (30*FEED IT) - (TIME in seconds)
Only one restart is allowed with penalty as reducing the new SCORE by the time
taken in previous run. (Team with maximum score will lead)

ARENA SPECIFICATION
The complete arena has a wooden-base. A rough sketch of arena is shown below for
reference:
 BASE: It is a place for launching the machine.
 YARD: It consists of certain seedlings placed in vertical standing position . The
seedlings could be hold only at cylindrical bottom part. Each seedling is of
plastic and weighs 100gm.
 SITES: These are the locations(X-marked in figure) meant for plantation. A
circular pit of about 60mm in diameter is dug out 50mm deep and is
encircled by heap of loose soil.
 POOL: It is a source of water for FEED IT. Water level in the POOL will be 20mm
to 50mm below the PLATFORM-level.
 HOPPERS: There are two funnels each for one row. Their broader end is open
with diameter of 90mm for pouring water. The other end is connected to
pipes that carry water to SITES. The hoppers are provided at the PLATFORM
level. Pouring water in one hopper will be counted as FEED IT for the seedlings
planted in the respective row.
 PLATFORM: A horizontal platform (160cm x 120cm) is provided at altitude of
40cm. It is connected to the arena main base through a 60cm wide path
inclined 20° to horizon.
In the final round, all the dimensions and characteristics would remain same except
a few minor changes in arena, viz. the relative positions of BASE, YARD, SITE, POOL;
the arena-base surface (i.e., land replacing wood); and of course the seedlings
would be genuine.
MACHINE CONSTRAINTS
The machine must not exceed 280mm x 250mm x 250mm (l x b x h) before
the event commences.
Maximum weight of the machine (excluding the source of power and drive)
could be 4Kgwt.
The machine can be controlled either wirelessly or with wires. If wired, the
wire should remain slack during the competition under all circumstances and
if it is controlled wirelessly, the machine must have at least four frequency
remote control circuit or two dual control circuits which may be
interchanged before the start of the event to avoid frequency interference.
Only use of electric power of maximum 24v DC is allowed to power the
machine. Off board supply of 220v AC @ 50Hz would be available in case of
using step down transformer or similar device to operate the machine.
The machine is free to use any mechanism for transfe rring water from POOL
to HOPPER.
Any sort of irrelevant tampering with the arena will not be tolerated.
Short circuit under any circumstances will lead to elimination of the
suspected team.
Better to forget about the Lego sets and the readymade robots.
Flying some kind of projectiles or any similar mechanisms will not be
entertained.
GENERAL TERMS
A team may comprise of two to five participants. Students from different
institutes can form a team.
All team members must possess a valid ID card of their respective institutes.
Team members must be in regular contact with the organizers. Teams must be
present with their machines ready near the arena well before the commencement
of the event.

DISCLAIMER
The organizers reserve all the rights to modify or change any of the above details.
Violation of any of the terms may lead to a direct disqualification of the team.
All the results declared by the organizers shall be final and binding to all.
