Suddenly both of my DVD drives have stopped working, they appear in

device manager but with an warning, when I check the properties I get
this message:

I have tried clicking the update driver button, but it tells me that the best
driver is already in use, I've also shut down and unplugged the mains but
this has made no difference.

I'm running Vista Home Premium edition 64bit, with an ASUS AN8 SLI
Deluxe mobo.

* one other thing I've just noticed is that my front panel USB ports have
stopped working along with the audio sockets, I'm wondering if my mobo
is at fault.

there is no "CONTROL" folder, but two that are similar that are called
"ControlSet001" and "ControlSet003". which should I go into? both? please
help, thanks!

Is this something common? I have been researching this very issue all
evening. My Dell inspiron 9100 just recently came up with a problem with
the cd drive. I can see the cd drive in the hardware manager. It has a
warning symbol. I tried the troubleshooting prodecures suggested in the
computer by uninstalling hardware, physically removing and installing the
cd rom. None of this works. I can see the cd rom is gettig power, it shows
in the registry but with a warning symbol. I read the upper and lower filter
Digital Composer of Music thing and have yet to try this. My questions now is what does deleting the
files do when you delete them. I see the warnings if you mess something
up deleting this information. Just feels risky to me. In the properties for

This registry key is for XP, the vista registry is.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, then delete the
lowerfilters and upperfilters.
