ZCAT Process

IMG developed a process to keep track of our development and configuration changes in SAP. The
transaction is ZCAT and it acts as documentation and workflow for all changes made in our system. This
dialog program has evolved over the years and is only in our Development system.

By entering transaction ZCAT you will be presented with any new tasks since the last time you went into
the transaction.

When you choose to “View Newly Assigned” the next screen lists all of the new ZCATS.

The SYS of a “D” indicates it is a development task, a “C” would be configuration. From here you can
double click on the item and see more information.

The top of the screen has the status, priority and requestor, developer a brief description of the request.
By pushing the “Description” button unlimited free form text can be maintained on this request.

The lower portion of the screen is the transport information. Each tab represents where the process has
been transported. They all start off in DEV. Once the requestor chooses the line of a transport and
pushes the testing is approved button the QAS tab will be populated. This continues until the it has
been moved into production. The “other tab” is if you want to document something from another
system like the sandbox or BW as we have done in this case. If you double click on the “Corr/Repair”
number it will take you to SE10 so that you can see the items in the transport.

Then Find function allows you to search all of the ZCATS for a word or phrase. To search Development
tasks make sure you are on the Development tab, to search Configuration make sure you are on the
Configuration tab.

After pushing the “Search all Tasks” button the first screen displays all ZCATS that have been created for
Development or Configuration. Enter the search term or phrase and then push enter.

The system will return the ZCATs that have that phrase somewhere in the ZCAT. You can also enter
transport numbers. By double clicking on the line you are interested in you can then see all of the detail
for that one ZCAT.
