Write a 750 word PAPER* to address the question What is Literature?

You need to discuss the definition of literature which you have developed through our discussions in
class, your own independent musings, and the two essays we studied. Your paper must
**make significant reference to the two essays (you must discuss at least one direct quotation from
each essay),
**include a discussion of how your understanding has developed/changed/solidified over the past few
weeks.

You may also want to include a more personal connection such as how your understanding of
literature has evolved as your reading abilities have evolved. This is not to be presented as a formal,
five-paragraph essay, although you should be able to see that the paragraphs based on the “Why Read”
and “What is Literature” will have a much more formal structure, closer to a quotation analysis.

This submission is to be typed, double-spaced, with a cover page following CCVI Communication
Guidelines. You may write a longer paper, but not significantly shorter. If it is much longer, think
about whether you need to include everything. Absolute max. length is 1500 words.
