AFFIDAVIT FOR ARREST WARRANT AND COMPLAINT THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF GALVESTON 1, Annie Almendarez, a peace officer employed by the Galveston Police pepartment, do solemnly swear that I have reason to believe and do believe that Trans James Mullis, a white male DOB September 20, 1986 did on or about the 20" day of January, 2008, in Galveston County, Texas did then and there intentionally or knowingly Sane, ihe death of an individual, namely, Alijah Mullis, by inflicting blunt force taco, 10 the head of the child and the said Alijah Mullis was then and there an indivahet younger than six years of age. Affiant has probable cause for said belief by reason of the following facts: On January 29, 2008, Affiant spoke to Officer Chad Powers of the Galveston Police Department and teamed that he (Officer Powers) was dispatched 1 Seawall Blvd. east of Condo Road for a call of a deceased child on January 29, 2008 ‘at approximately 8:50 a.m. This location is in the City of Galveston, Galveston County, Texas. Officer Powers stated that he arrived at a location east of Condo Road and located a deceased infant. Officer Powers further stated shat EMS Personnel had already been to the location and determined the baby was deceased. On January 29, 2008, Affiant personally went to the location of the deceased infant and observed the infant clothed in only a diaper lying on the grassy slope on the head of the child and deformations in the child's head. The child ee transported to the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office by the transport service. On January 29, 2008, Affiant interviewed Caren Kohberger at the Galveston Police Department. During this interview, Caren Kohberger stated that her boyfriend, Travis James (T-J.) Mullis, and her three month old son were missing, Ms, Kobberger stated that her son was named Alijah Mullis. Me Kohberger Stated that T.J. had left their residence in Alvin, Texas about 4:30 am, on the morning of January 29, 2008 and had hot returned. T.J. was supposed to be back at the residence by 9:00 a.m. for the child’s next feeding. Ms. Kohberger staredthat neither TJ. nor her son had been heard from or seen since they left early that Roming. Affiant showed Ms. Kohberger a photograph of the deceased infant ound next to Seawall Blvd. and she identified the child as her son, Alijah Mullic Affiant was personally present at the autopsy of the baby identified as Alijah Mullis which was performed by Dr. Nobby C. Mambo, Deputy Medical Examiner for Galveston County on January 30, 2008. Dr. Mambo stated that the baby identified as Alijah Mullis died as a result of massive blunt force trauma to the head. According to Dr. Mambo, the child suffered skull fractures and hematomas to the brain, (On February 1, 2008, Affiant spoke with Detective Sergeant Jeremy Schwartz and eared that Det. Schwartz had spoken with Detective Hesser of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania police department. According to Det, Hesser, Travis James (T.J.) Mullis walked into the police department and stated that he wanted to turn himecty in because he was wanted for a murder in Texas, Affiant received the faxed written statement of Travis James Mullis taken by Detective Gregory Rodden and Detective Robert Hesser of the Philadelphia Police Department.
