ARGONAUTS TREE SERVICE

AIR COMPRESSOR & AIR TOOLS

DESCRIPTION:

The aim of this procedure is to draw the attention of Team Leaders and Employees to the
personal injury and the potential risk associated with the operation of Air compressors and air
tools.

ROLES: All Employees

PROCESS:

Hazards

 Particles being blown onto operator / bystanders (eyes)


 Noise

PPE

 Ear Plugs/muffs
 Steel cap safety boots
 High visibility clothing
 Long sleeve shirt / pants
 Safety goggles (Clear)
 Sun hat if outdoors

Competencies

Be familiar with the characteristics of the hand tool equipment and any relevant user’s
manual/instructions.

Operations (All equipment is to be used in accordance with the Manufacture’s Users Manual)

 Keep the compressor clean and free from oil and dust deposits
 Drain condensation trap prior to start-up
 If using compressor in confined area wear ear plugs/muffs
 Drain air tank after use
 Compressed air is NOT to be directed towards any person
 Don’t blow dust off clothing or skin with compressed air
 Don’t use the tools for any other purpose than what they were designed for
