POLICY TITLE: PartIcipation By School Groups In Public POLICY NO:

Minidoka County Joint School District # 331 PAGE 1 of 1

It is the intent of the Board of Trustees of the Minidoka County Joint School District No. 331
that Minidoka County Schools have the opportunity for school sponsored groups to participate in
local public events. This participation shall be available to enhance the educational opportunity
for students but shall not be used if detrimental to the students' normal learning routine.

Provisions:

The following provisions are to assist in the administration of this policy:

1. School groups may schedule such activities with the permission of the principal or
activities director.

2. Participation in local public events shall fall into the following categories:
a. Educational events in which the schools serve as hosts and are sponsored by the
schools.
b. Non-commercial civic occasions of community, city, state, or national interest
which enlist general community support.
c. Events that are primarily patriotic in nature, such as Veteran's Day.
d. Charity benefit activities provided such activity has been specifically approved in
advance by the superintendent.
e. Programs sponsored by established, non-sectarian, character building agencies.
f. Programs sponsored jointly by the school district with some other agency.
g. Programs on television or radio where they are of a public service nature or
provide the school district an opportunity to communicate with the general
public.

3. School groups may, with the permission of the principal, participate in activities outside
of the local area where one or more organizations of the school is a participant in a
regularly scheduled event or contest.

4. Non scheduled out of state and over night activities must have school board approval.
