How does shakespeare play with the

audiences emotions in Act 3 scene 1 of

Richard lll

In Act 3 scene 1 of Richard lll, shakespeare plays with the

audiences emotions on stage mostly in the form of Richard duke
of Gloucseter. In certain parts of the play, mainly for Richards
lines, there are stage directions saying 'aside', this is telling
Richard that instead of facing the other actors on stage and to
turn and face the audience.

This means that instead of talking to the other actors and having
a conversation with them he is instead directly facing the
audience and talking to them. When this happenes it makes you
feel more important and play a role in part of the play, because
you are hearing something that the other actors are not ment to
hear on stage, as if you were hearing Richards evil and cunning
thoughts tumbling around inside his head.

When Richard talks to the audience he is still quite selective with

his words and the audience might have to try and unravel what he
has just said to gain the full picture of what Richard is trying to
put forward.
