► Required every day in social studies

► Model notebook is kept in class and is accessible
to all students

 designed to teach students how to organize and
highlight information, as well as take notes
Class Structure
► Every day students are required to
 title, date and number their notebook pages
 update their table of contents
 answer the Hook
 participate in the lesson
 answer the What’s the Point (SOL question)
► Many days students will be required to complete a
Sinker – an assignment designed to apply the
information learned that day
Assessments
► At least a week’s notice will be given before
all assessments
► A study guide will be provided at least a
week before the end of the unit
► Study guide is due the day before the test
► Test score and retest information is sent
home after every test for a parent signature
► Students are required to retake a test if he
or she scores a D or lower
