Bi-Directional Over-Pressure Relief Valves

These relief valves protect equipment from over-pressure in both flow directions by incorporating a bi-directional valve. The valve opens when pressure exceeds the maximum rating on either side - a mechanical stop opens it if pressure is too high from one side, while a spring opens it if pressure is too high coming from the other direction. Opening the valve equalizes pressure to protect the unit.

Operation of the Bi-Directional Over-pressure

Protection Relief Valves

These units incorporate a bi-directional relief valve which provides over-pressure


protection in both directions. When over-pressured from the high side, the valve is
opened by a mechanical stop as the sensing element deflects to its maximum travel.
When over-pressured from the low side, the spring-loaded valve opens when the
differential pressure exceeds it’s maximum rating. The opening of the valve in either
direction equalizes the pressure and protects the unit
