• I wanted to convey the different backgrounds that I could use within my music magazine. These backgrounds could be seen as relevant for the genre of my magazine
This would not be the actual picture that I used but
the surroundings would be similar. I think this would represent R&B artist as shows their famous and rich which is portrayed a lot throughout R&B magazines.
This is a close up of a brick wall which I think
would be effective for a R&B magazine if the model I was using was a boy. It would portray their image as ‘hard’ or a ‘gangster’ which many music magazine such as vibe try to convey This image of the water and sky is used in a couple of the magazine covers for ‘vibe’. I think it would be good when using a women on the front as it would portray them as sexual which is what many competitors try to do to draw in their audience.
I think a graffiti wall
would be effective as it stands out and would be memorable to the audience. I think that this as well as the plain wall would be seen on some music magazines to also portray the models image. I have researched on competitions backgrounds such as ‘blender’ to see the different types of backgrounds that they use throughout their magazines. As many of them are plain it is hard to find ones which actually use specific backgrounds.
I found this one background with fireworks in the back good
as it seemed attractive and fitted in well with the model that they have used. I believe the ‘sparks’ that stand out around the model to seem eye-catching.
Within many magazine there
would not be much in the background but there are many which have the models paces on some sort of chair or bed. I think many do this to portray their sexuality through their body language sitting down rather then standing up. Others portray men sitting on thrones which could be used to show their dominance. • I have looked at my competitions backgrounds to see which ones they would mainly use. The ones I have showed previously are ones which I thought would be good as well as backgrounds magazines have already used. • Throughout this research that many of these magazines do not even use a imaged background but used a black, white or coloured one instead
