A video of a girl tapping the side of her face to demonstrate spasms – we were
asked what this was called and what it was caused by – Chvostek’s sign caused
by hypocalcaemia

Chvostek's sign is contraction of the muscles of the eye, mouth or nose, elicited by tapping
along the course of the facial nerve. The examiner taps gently over the facial nerve in front of
the ear.

This is a sign of a latent tetany.
