To give the students a further background on theory & analysis of
electrical circuits with emphasis on filters, magnetic & power circuits.
Revision on Circuit Analysis-I, Review on transient response of first &
second order networks with further details, complex frequency and
network functions, two-port networks, review & applications of Laplace
transform to circuit analysis, frequency response, filters, mutually-
coupled inductors, transformers, three-phase waves, three-phase power
circuits, applications on computer-aided circuit analysis.
b. Prerequisites: 802301 Circuit Analysis-I
c. Required Course
Specific Goals for the Course:
a. Specific Outcomes of Instructions:
1. An ability to apply S-domain techniques (Laplace transform) to analyze
the behavior of linear circuits, and formulate and solve these problems
using modern engineering tools.
2. An ability to apply phasors and frequency response techniques to
analyze the behavior of linear circuits operating under sinusoidal steady
state conditions.
3. An ability to apply series-parallel ac circuit techniques to analyze the
behavior of series-parallel ac networks.
4. An ability to apply the power triangle concept to estimate the ac power
delivered to ac loads, and to apply the power-factor correction technique
in the design of ac power transmission systems.
5. An ability to apply the resonance concept to analyze the behavior of
series and parallel RLC resonant circuits and estimate the resonant
frequency, quality factor, and bandwidth of the these circuits.
6. An ability to apply the filtering concept to analyze the behavior of RC
low-pass and high-pass filters, pass-band filters and stop-band filters,
and to use logarithms and Bode plots to formulate and solve these
problems using modern engineering tools.

7. An ability to apply the mutual-inductance concept to analyze the
behavior of ac circuits containing mutually connected coils, iron-core
and air-core transformers, tapped and multiple-load transformers.
8. An ability to apply the concepts of line and phase voltages, phase
sequence, Δ-connected and Y-connected three-phase generators and
loads to analyze the behavior of three-phase power circuits.
9. An ability to apply the concepts of input and output impedance, no-load
and loaded voltage gain, impedance parameters, admittance parameters,
and hybrid parameters to analyze the behavior of two-port networks.
