Grill

The word grill has a wide range of meanings. In households, grill refers to a sheet of material which has
different patterns of holes or pores in it, allowing air or liquids to pass through it. Mostly grills are made
of aluminum sheets & are installed in front of glass windows allowing the flow of fresh air while blocking
insects or other small things from entering the house. In cooking, the word grilling refers to cook food by
applying dry heat to the food directly from above or below. Since the heat is applied directly, so foods
like meat which usually require high pressure cooking are cooked easily. Barbecue grills are very famous
in this regard. They are generally of two types: gas-fueled & charcoal grills. The food cooked on charcoal
grills gets a unique taste of its own. Usually people like eating grilled food when they are on camping.
The greatest advantage of cooking food by grilling is that it is an uncomplicated process & doesn’t
require a lot of special equipment, high-voltage power outlets, or high-end pots and pans to get started.
Small & portable charcoal grills are good for smaller cuts of meat & less people to feed. For bigger
groups of people, larger cuts of meat & regular grillers, a large grill is worth to spend on. Looking from a
historical point of view, it seems to be the most ancient form of cooking used by mankind. In the pre-
historic times, there were no stoves or ovens. The raw meat from hunted animals was cooked directly
on fire causing the meat to become tender & eatable. Gas fueled grills are now becoming more popular.
The reason being that a gas grill can do everything that a charcoal grill can – except burn charcoal. But
even the simplest gas grill is complex than a charcoal grill. Gas grill use a propane tank or a natural gas
connection. The use of fuel in this type of grill makes it possible to operate it for longer periods of time.
The basic structure of a gas grill is composed of a metal box that’s lined with propane burners. Above
the burners heating bars, lava rocks or ceramic coals are used. As your food cooks, fats from the meat
drips onto the lava rocks or coal and produce smoke for a grilled flavor. Gas grills are usually made from
cast aluminum, stainless steel, or porcelain-coated steel. Now the question is: which grill to buy? It
totally depends on your passion for grilling. The difference in flavor is often cited by grilling enthusiasts
when arguing the merits of charcoal versus gas grilling. It is a tough decision for many to make. The
distinctive taste produced by the smoky rub form charcoal grilling is really difficult to produce from gas
grilling. But then gas grilling has its own advantages. It offers fast starts, accurate heat control, even
cooking, easy year-round use, and less labor-intensive. Also the cleanup is also very easy & not too
messy.
