Dear Whoever,
You will be learning about the 15 power words in the 8th grade. These words will help you through almost
anything from test take to detective work. The most important one is analyze and summarize. Analyze means to
break it down and summarize means to gather the important facts for a paragraph. Next step is trace, it allows you to
list the steps involved in something
Now you have a review on a book of your choice. If you still have questions that͛s called evaluate to find the
answers, and it means your opinions. Next you create a comic strip, it be just like a quiz. This step is called infer, to
read between the lines. You will have to draw something that is related to your book and describe the meaning. This
called describe and visualize. Describe means to tell about the text, and visualize means to create an image of the
text. Next you have to make a prediction about what will happen next in the book. This called predict.
After that you will have to compare and contrast some information in the book. Compare means to describe
how things are alike, but contrast means to describe how things are different. Next step is advise and elaborate.
Advise means to recommend something, elaborate means to tell more about the subject. Now you have to create a
website this step is called formulate. Finally the final steps are explain and support. Explain means to give more
details, and support means to give evidence about the topic.
