Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the performance of the mutual funds in Bangladesh. In

this research is to assess the effectiveness and usefulness of mutual funds & find out the interest

of shareholders.

In line with this, the research aim is also to know the approaches & methods of calculating

profitability of mutual fund to determine how effective is in protecting the shareholders’ value.

 In order that the abovementioned objectives of this research can be achieved, i will employ a

normative survey wherein, formulated questionnaires will be filled out by the chosen

respondents. The gathered data will be treated by getting the frequencies and after which, it will

be analyzed and presented.

2. Research objectives
The main objective of this research is to assess the performance of Mutual funds.specific

objective of this research are as follows:

     To identify the fundamentals of Mutual funds of Bangladesh.

      To gather & analyze the various aspects of Mutual funds.

      To compute the return & risk of mutual funds available in Bangladesh .

      To know how companys’ float & manage the mutual funds.

      To find out the customer satisfaction about mutual funds.

      To help the potential investors for assessing the investment decision.

      To determine the mutual funds performance measure on the basis of risk return criterion.

 To explore the problems of mutual funds.

  To give suggestion to overcome the problem.

3. Benefits of the study

This research proposal is beneficial to businessmen and students of business management.
Furthermore, this research will help us to fully understand the contribution and the
necessity of mutual fund in the real business world.
This research will help me to evaluate the performance of various mutual funds & their
profitability.
This would help investor to invest in the mutual fund carefully.It will help me to relate classroom
learning with real life situation.With this research we can get experience and know that how
much theoretical knowledge is deviated from the real facts.

4. METHODOLOGY

Main aim of this research is to gain experience so I observed various mutual funds in the stock

market & gather relevant information.With this research design, the primary data needed in will

be derived from the answers of the respondents of the survey through the formulated

questionnaires.  

Therefore, a comparative survey of the descriptive research design will be employed. In this kind

of survey, the results gathered from the answers of the different respondents will have to be

compared. Such comparison will enable me to assess the benefits and the effectiveness of mutual

funds to increase the competitiveness in terms of increasing the performance of the business

organization.

5. DATA COLLECTION

The necessary data will be collected from two sources.they are:

 Primary sources:

This data will be collected from direct field.

  Secondary sources:

This data will be collected from articles,annual reports of company,SEC,DSE,various

journals,books & websites.

In order that I will be able to gather necessary and relevant data, a normative survey method of

data collection will be utilized. In this regard, representatives from the business sector will be

asked to fill up the formulated questionnaire. The data gathered in the course of this research will

be subjected to analysis. Therefore, in order to provide a comprehensive analysis of the results of

this study, the descriptive and comparative approaches will be utilized in analyzing the results.

  To enable the data gathered to be organized into logical, sequential, and meaningful categories

and classifications to make them agreeable to study and interpretation, it will be presented in a

tabular form. Moreover, to enable the readers to understand the variables presented in the table,

there will be a short explanatory note after each table to ensure that the readers are able to figure

out the results of the research.

6. WORK PLAN
This research will be guided by a specific time table to ensure that the data needed to answer the

problems and address the objectives of the study will be gathered and collected just in time.

7. PLAN FOR DATA ANALYSIS

  This research study will be consists of 5 chapters. The presentation of the background of the

study, the objectives, research problems and the importance of conducting the study will form

part of the first chapter. On the other hand, the second chapter will be comprised of the review of

related literature with relation to the published documents on economic value addition in

business operations. Also, it will contain information gathered in previous studies conducted in

relation to the topic. Moreover, the description of the participants, sampling technique and the

research instruments utilized in the study will be discussed in chapter 3 of the research. Chapter

4 will primarily focused on the presentation and analysis of the data gathered and finally, chapter

5 will summarize the presentation analysis of the data made in chapter 4.

There were certain limitations regarding the study that is summarized below:

 The main hindrance behind preparing this report is time. So, it is not possible to go

through in depth within this short span of time.

 Deficiencies in data required for the study. It will not cover most recent data.

 Confidentiality of Data- Information regarding the actual performance and position as it

is related to the company’s reputation and financial stability that’s why it is quite hard to

go through the information.

 I carried out such a study for the first time, so in experience is one of the main constraints

of the study.

 As it is a qualitative research it may not reflect actual result.
