    Increase in overnight stays


    Neuchâtel, 08.03.2011 (FSO) – According to provisional results from the Federal Statistical
    Office (FSO), the Swiss hotel industry registered 2.9 million overnight stays in January 2011.
    This corresponds to a growth of 1.6% (+44,000 overnight stays) compared with January 2010.
    Domestic visitors generated 1.3 million overnight stays, i.e. an increase of 3.1% (+38,000
    overnight stays). Foreign visitors registered 1.6 million overnight stays, showing a slight
    increase (+0.4% / +5700 overnight stays).
