Your cardiovascular system The cardiovascular system is: a collection of organs that transport blood throughout the body.
The cardiovascular system is made of: heart and the
blood vessels. The heart Your heart is an organ made mostly of cardiac muscle tissue. The heart size is like a fist. Blood vessels There are three types of blood vessels: arteries, capillaries and veins. Arteries: the primary function is the carry blood (with oxigen) away from the heart to the body. Capillaries: is a tiny blood vessel thet allows exchanges between blood and cells in other tisssue. Veins: is carry blood (without oxigen) from the body to the heart. Two types of circulation There are two types of circulation: pulmonary and systemic circulation. Pulmonary circulation: the flow of blood from the heart to the lungs and back to the heart through the pulmonary arteries, capillaries and veins. Systemic circulation: the flow of blood from the heart to all parts of the body and back to the heart. Cardiovascular system There are two principal cardiovascular problems. Atherosclerosis: is when the cholesterol builds up inside of blood vessels, that make that the arteries get blocked. High blood preasure: is when the preasure of the blood that the heart pump gets higher.
