Top exam tips:

1. Choosing the exam question


• For each top you will have a choice of two questions:
e.g. 1. a, b, c ,d or 2 a, b, c, d
• Choose the question based on the B and C question – these are worth
the most marks.
• Don’t just look at A – it is only worth 2 marks.

2. A style questions
• Worth 2 marks
• Only brief answer needed.
• Normally just defining a key word or basic idea

3. B style question
• Usually you will outline or describe an idea
• Use key words
• Write 4 or 5 detailed points
• Don’t waffle or make up stuff

4. C Style question
• You are showing how one idea links to another
• To do this use the word BECAUSE
e.g. Some Christians are pacifists because Jesus taught non-violence/
some are not pacifists because Christians have a right to defend
themselves etc
• Write 5 or 6 detailed points
• Don’t waffle/ make stuff up

5. D. Style Question
• 2 arguments for
• 2 arguments against
• Your own view – with good reasons
• Include RELIGIOUS reasons

6. The ‘extended writing’ question of Religion and science (Cosmology)


• The last question is on Religion and Science - it is an extended writing
question
• Spend at least 30 minutes on this question
• Part A is like a normal B question – see above
• Part B is like a normal C question – see above
• Part C is like a normal D question – see above
• Write in proper sentences and paragraphs/ Take care with spelling
