Personal Statement

At the age of six, when I was in grade one, my science teacher opened up the cpu in order
to show us what an integrated circuit looks like. That was the day when, the interest of
computers and computing was rooted inside me. I can always remember the feeling of
wanting to know just how computers worked, what makes them work and what else they
could do.
This interest never left me, only growing more profound and passionate with every new
discovery I made. From communicating with an artificial intelligence to seeing the wonders
of the Internet for the first time, computers have left me fascinated with just how much
power yet mystery they hold.
The matriculations I chose to study have all helped me to develop both myself and my
understanding of the subject. Physics for example has helped me to understand how certain
parts of a computer function, while, computing has given me a greater insight into the
business aspects of the computer industry. I remember I used to have a crush on every
physics and computing teacher always.
Chemistry and Physics have both helped to improve my analytical and evaluative skills. This
has given me an insight into the richness that is computer science.
My interest in computing has not been restricted to the classroom. Within the last few
months I’ve used my knowledge in web developing and to teach kids at home. This has
given me a totally new perspective on how certain things function, and how business
operates and how to cope with kids and their moms.
I’ve been working as a radio jockey on fm and I’ve been visiting some work places for my
case studies and assignments. I have learnt many things. These include how to balance
tasks effectively, how critical teamwork can be and how to delegate tasks to get the job
done efficiently.
I want to avail this scholarship because I think it’s important to fully utilize one’s skills and
ability. Secondly, I want to serve my country with all the skills I would be mastering there.
Besides, my father is in government and gets posted to different city after every couple of
years. So, I’ve a good practice to be adaptable with an alien environment and get jelled
with new mates. A new environment makes me more energized.
As well as spending time both studying and helping to take time out for radio I understand
the importance of having time to relax. One of my hobbies is writing poems in English and
script writing. I’ve a dream someday I would be able to manage to get my poems published.
I love the freedom of expression and maybe that’s the reason that I love being an anchor.
I’ve been one of the announcers of almost every at my institutions.
I’m looking forward with great anticipation to the challenges that studying for a degree in
computer science will bring.
