FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Summary of events in the city of Misurata

This morning, the people of Misurata awoke to a thick cloud of black smoke that spread across a distance
of 2 kilometers. The smoke was due to the continuing fires at the fuel tanks near the Misurata port. The
Civil defense team and the Brega Company security team continue to try to extinguish the fire, and to keep
people away from homes located near the fire.

The Sterilization and Quarantine Commission continue to recover the dead bodies of Gaddafi forces and to
disinfect the areas where they lay. The Commission is also scouring different areas of the city for
landmines, and removing them. Today, they continue their work to the end of the street in Tripoli.

The youth in Misurata still surround Gaddafi forces who are inside the compound of the Air-Force
Academy. They have successfully liberated and swept almost the entire area of Timmina, forcing Gaddafi
forces to retreat much further, to the south-eastern areas of Misurata. They also defeated Gaddafi forces
on the outskirts of west Abu Ruwaiya.

People in Misrata were pleased at the news that Italy will supply the youth of Misurata with weapons. The
residents continue to suffer from cooking gas shortages, and scarcity of vegetables and food. They are
also suffering from an interruption to the water supply as well as frequent interruptions in the electricity
supply, with some areas not having received electricity for weeks. The hospital of Misurata did not report
any martyrs. There were a few wounded youth and a large number of dead Gaddafi mercenaries.
