Our main character Zara is dressed
very simple in all black to show how
she herself is simple and isn't led on by
fashion and brands. She is not
materialistic like other teenagers and
she is respectful to her religion by not
showing too much flesh. Muslim
viewers, especially females will be able
to relate to this as she has stuck to the
principles of her religion.

This shot of Zara says a lot about her

emotions and how she is all scrunched up
in one part of the screen shows how she
feels small and insignificant. She also reads
too much into the texts which is quite
stereotypical of teenage girls.

These shots of Zara show her duty to her religion whilst she does the washing
ritual. Her blank expression show how she doesn͛t enjoy it but still does it. The
variation of angles help emphasise this and being the main character makes her
the protagonist. The lighting is still kept natural through the bathroom scenes to
stick to the conventions of British Social Realism. This could represent many
young Muslim girls feelings towards religion.

Here Elizabeth is dressed
quite simple too as it fits
in with the British Social
Realist genre and also
shows how she is working
class..

This shot of Elizabeth shows

how she isn't as caught up in the
texts as Zara is, and how she is
doing other things which makes
Zara's love for her, - a one way
thing. This represents how many
young relationships go today. By adding Technology into our production like
the laptop and the BlackBerry͛s, this makes it
much more relatable to our audience as they
are everyday objects that most people use.
This also shows she is working class as she can
afford the latest technology.
