DLN 1+ Combustion System for Frame 6B

Single Digit NOx emissions levels fact sheet
To help satisfy revised government regulations and business
requirements that demand cleaner emissions and more operational
flexibility, GE Energy has enhanced the Dry Low NOx (DLN)
technology on 6B gas turbines. This enhanced product, a product
of GE's ecomagination initiative, is built upon years of leadership
and experience in the area of combustion technology to reduce
NOx levels.

The new DLN 1+ combustion system for 6B gas turbines achieves

less than 5 ppm (10 mg/Nm3) NOx and single digit CO when operat-
ing on natural gas at base load. This system helps our customers
comply with local regulations requiring NOx and CO reduction
without impacting gas turbine performance. GE can adjust the NOx
and CO system emissions levels to conform to the customer’s site
ambient conditions, load range and emission requirements. The
new DLN1+ system can be installed during a combustion, hot gas
path, or major inspection outage and has a target combustion
inspection interval of 24,000 hours, based on natural gas operation.

Features
• Patented combustion system • Wear-resistant materials and coatings help extend maintenance

• Building block features to allow for various emissions options intervals

as a function of applied DLN1+ technologies • Proven and patented sealing technology for tighter performance

• Unique independently controlled pilot fuel hones emissions and longer intervals, leveraged from F-class turbine systems

and stability for very low CO emissions requirements • Design compatible with existing DLN 1 end covers

• Closed-loop emissions and corrected parameter control • Compatible with present and planned 6B improvements, such
manage emissions levels across ambient and load range as 3D Aero stage 3 components and OpFlex* enhancements

• Transition piece dilution design based on proprietary • Adjusted hot gas temperature profile without negative impact
performance, emissions, and reliability data from the fleet to hot gas path component life or performance
of 6B DLN 1 and 7E DLN1+ units • Steam injection option for power augmentation

• Enhanced control option to further reduce emissions and

eliminate need for seasonal tuning

Benefits Applicability
• Improved gas turbine emissions: guaranteeing less than This offering can be retrofitted on 6B gas turbines with firing
5 ppm (10 mg/Nm3) NOx across large load and ambient range temperatures of 2020°F (1100°C) and above.

• Optional 4ppm NOx guarantee offering

• Very low NOx and CO emission solution for specific

load and ambient range

• Equivalent or similar turndown to current DLN1 offerings

• Improved revenue potential from growing NOx credit trading

markets in the US and Europe

• Reduced maintenance costs and improved reliability due to

24,000 hour combustion inspection interval design target

• DLN system eliminates water usage and costs for steam/water

injection for NOx control

• Eliminates or reduces the need for costly and complex SCR

systems along with associated ammonia slippage,
water usage and heat rate impacts

• Flexibility to arbitrate between steam need and electricity

values, using steam injection capability

• Optional elimination of the need for seasonal tuning

Note: NOx values are corrected to 15% O2
