It was a cold and cloudy night in November; I was driving to my good friend Amber’s

apartment. She wanted me there to be a third party for her to meet a guy friend of
hers, Nate, at her home for the first time. When I arrived I walked up the icy stairs to
her third floor apartment. As I walked into her home it was warm on my chilled
cheeks and nose. The apartment smelled of her home baked brownies and
cinnamon scented candles.

Amber busied herself with her hair and touching up her make up, when there was a
knock at the door. She said, “Would you mind getting that.” She said. “Sure, no
problem.” I said from the living room. I went to the door and there was Kevin, her
neighbor from an apartment on the floor below. “Hey, what are you guys up to
tonight?” He asked. Amber replied from the bedroom “Come in, your freezing the
place.” Kevin walked in and we waited together on the couch for Nate to arrive. We
did not say much to each other and what conversation we did have I don’t
remember since it was unimportant.

Nate arrived and Amber introduced us to him. After munching down warm sweet
brownies, we started a movie. None of us were really watching it though. Soon
Amber and Nate went into the other room to check out something on the computer.
Kevin and I started talking about all kinds of things that we hadn’t ever talked about.

The one question that sticks in my mind to this day is “What is it that you want most
from a man?” Asked Kevin in a caring tone. “I don’t know.” I simply replied. “You
want to be wanted.” He stated lovingly. I about cried and I stood up to walk to the
kitchen; he got up and walked up to me gentle grabbed my head and kissed me. I
was in awe, and a bit shocked because I didn’t know he liked me that way. Then I
just kissed him back and I felt nothing I had ever felt before. From that moment on
we where inseparable, we did everything together.

In one instant my life changed and would never be the same again. That was the day
I fell in love with my husband. That moment reminds me everyday to be open to fate
and to whatever life may throw your way. You just never know when your fairytale
will begin.
