5 Elements of Mise-En-Scene
Setting and Props – The film begins in the heart of
New York business district which consists of a lot of
tall offices and banks. From 2:15 onward the setting
then changes to the inside of a bank.
 Main props used in the first 4.00 of the film include:
Zip wire, shoulder bag, a car, guns, a hammer, a shot
gun, a power drill, a vault and masks.

Costume, hair and make-up – the masked men
choose to wear dark clothes (mostly black) this
contrast to the clothes worn by the people in the bank
which consists of a lot more colour.
The characters actual hair and make-up is not seen
due to the use of the masks . However there is a
strong use of make-up on the masks and the hair has
been dyed red possibly to make them seem more
intimidating.

Facial Expressions and Body Language – the robbers
actual facial expression were also block by the use of
the masks. The mask however maintain a fixed, quite
daunting expression. The bank staff and customers
facial expression are as expected scared and
frightened.
The body language of the masked men is very
threatening . They come across aggressive and
threatening but also incredibly organised.

Lighting and Colour – a variety of lighting is used
within the first four minutes of this film. There are a
number of times were there is a strong contrast
between light and dark. For instance in the scene
were the masked men were driving in the car. The
light in the car was rather dark in contrast to outside
which was extremely sunny/bright.
The mask men wore dull/dark colours for there
costumes but choose to wear masks with bright /bold
colours instead of just a plain black mask. This may
possibly emphasis the importance of the masks.
