What is 4G?
 4G is the fourth generation wireless
system.

 The overall goal of the network is to

provide a compressive and secure internet
access with much faster speed.

4G network provides speed of 100Mbps to

1Gbps
4G
Also known as ‘Mobile Broadband
everywhere’
MAGIC
Mobile Multimedia Communication
 Anywhere, Anytime with Anyone

 Global Mobility Support

 Integrated Wireless Solution
 Customized Personal Service
WHAT’S NEW IN 4G ?
 Entirely packet-switched networks.
 All network elements are digital.
 Higher bandwidths to provide multimedia services at
lower cost (up to 100Mbps).
 Frequency band is 2 – 8 GHz.
 Tight network security.
HISTORY
1G is the analog wireless communication known as cell
phones. It replaced 0G technology, that is Radio Telephones.

2G provides mobile phone technologies such as calls, text

messages, mms etc. 2G technology holds efficient security for both
sender and receiver

3G technology is introduced to overcome

the 2G.
 3G use TDMA and CDMA.
 faster data speed.
 video calling. E.g.. Bsnl 3G
3G Vs 4G

and possible 4G systems.

Mbps.
How 4G becomes Faster?

 It works on OFDM – Orthogonal Frequency

Division Multiplexing

 It is the technology that allows transmitting very

high data rates over other channels.
How 4G works?
 This technology transmits signals through the air
— not through wires — so you get wireless
internet speeds as fast as you'd get with a home
broadband or home DSL connection.
Application of 4G

Music,chating,gaming

SMS,E-mail,Fax,video conferencing

M-commerce
ADVANTAGES:
 You get Internet on the go. This is primary
advantage of 4G
Fast download speed and connection speed
Huge range of coverage area- entire city can
be covered.
Satellite provider- watch live TV
 It can improve business efficiency.
 The most important : works on OFDM
DISADVANTAGES:

 One major limitation is operating area.

It is still not available everywhere ,so a
user can run out of signals.

The equipment required to implement a

next generation network is still very
expensive.
Availability

 4G is still not available in India.

 In U.S few countries are having 4G wireless
network as beginner.

 The Clear and Wi-max are the first two

companies that started 4G wireless network.
CONCLUSION
 The proposed wireless system discussed above may
provide a unique solution for the highway portion of the
high-bandwidth global communication system of the
future.

4G - a promising Generation of wireless communication

that will change people’s lives

 4G networks may eventually deliver

on all the promises. These advances will make high-speed
data/voice-over-Internet-protocol
(VoIP) networks a reality
