It’s been five months.

“Love.”

“Excuse me?”

“Love sucks-“ Skyler placed his legs up on the desk, taking a chip out of the bag on his lap.

“I wouldn’t have expected you to say such a thing.”

“I had an epiphany.” He shrugged, eating the chip before turning the bag around to read the
ingredients. “These are horrible for you; look at this- 60% fat.” He turned the bag around again, taking
another chip. “Brett loves them though… I’m surprised he hasn’t had some sort of heart attack.”

Elijah had placed down his laptop by now to look over at Skyler.

“You miss him.”

“Of course I miss him… I love him.” He eyed Elijah but all he got in return was a steady stare,
Skyler sighed and just continued his explanation. “He’s not just my boyfriend or… fiancé or whatever,
he’s my best friend, he’s always been my best friend. So I kind of always loved him, always will.”

“Nothing is eternal, Skyler.”

“Love is.” He snorted, knowing how sappy he just sounded. “I know it is okay? Or it can be-“

“But science doesn’t…”

“Look, dude, talk to me when you’ve been so damn in love with someone that it hurts. Try and
argue with me then.”

“Do you really believe that will ever happen to me?” Elijah raised his eyebrows, folding his arms
in front of him now. “That someone could keep up with me, that someone can relate-“

“Shut up, Eli. It happens to everyone okay? No matter how much of a smart ass you are-“ Skyler
laughed now, throwing the bag of chips at Elijah.

The other boy caught it, looking down at it for a second before nodding, a small smile appearing
on his face as he took one of the treats. “I’ll take your word for it, Dylans.”
