Turbine Exhaust Plug Removal

General

1. This task gives the procedure for the removal of the turbine exhaust
plug.
2. The turbine exhaust plug is an assembly of the forward plug and aft
plug. The forward plug and aft plug are a matched set when fabricated.
The forward plug and aft plug will show the part number, the serial
number, the manufacturer code, and the date of manufacture.
3. The forward plug and aft plug are replaced as a matched set. If both
parts are not replaced as a set, the contour between the forward and
aft plug will not match correctly.

Removal
1. Remove the turbine exhaust plug assembly [10]:

NOTE:
The forward plug and aft plug are a matched set. They must be removed
and installed as a set.

1. Remove the aft plug [1].

Remove the 33 bolts [4].
2. Remove the forward plug [2].
Attach the SPL-2427 exhaust sleeve and plug R/I equipment and SPL-
1556 400 pound maximum capacity boom hoist to remove the forward
plug [2]
3. Use the adjustable outside arms to hold the forward plug.
Remove the 42 bolts [7], washers [6], and nuts [5].
Remove the alignment pin [8], washer [9] and nut [5] from the turbine
exhaust case if it is necessary.
4. Make sure the component parts of the turbine exhaust plug assembly [10],
the aft plug [1] and forward plug [2], are kept together.
The aft plug [1] and forward plug [2] are replaced and repaired as a
matched set.
