To analyze the concept of Dematerialization of Securities Demat Services provided by HDFC bank

Objectives
To ascertain the procedure involved in converting the physical certificates Trading procedure involved in dematerialized securities To measure the effectiveness of depository services provided by HDFC Bank Ltd To bring out improvements in existing system

Demat Process

Review of Literature
 Risk Exposure of Investor while trading in paper:
Delay in transfer of shares Possibility of forgery on various documents leads to bad deliveries, legal disputes etc. Possibility from theft of share certificates Prevalence from fake certificates in the market Mutilation or loss of Share Certificates

Findings
A majority of the customers got acquainted through marketing channel The IVRS most features are not understood by the customers to address their grievances immediately The statements required by the customers vary according to their needs A major proportion of the customers does not face any problem with the depository

Suggestions
The marketing personnel's would have been provided counseling sessions to update the customers and satisfy their needs and requirements The statements would have been delivered to customers based on their turnover The bank authorities are requested to aid the customers with the pre-requisites that are required for acquiring the pan card The IVRS would have been more user friendly

Conclusion
There is a greater need to improve the marketing channel to promote new & existing products A smaller magnitude of customers accounts get delayed to be open A small chunk of customers are not satisfied with all the services being updated to them The depository has been charging a comparatively reasonable fees from the clients for the services rendered when compared with other DPs
