Jordan and Iraq signed am agreement on Sunday to begin laying the framework for an international railway line that would connect Baghdad and the Jordanian sea port of Aqaba, reconnecting Iraq to the Red Sea in a move seen as restoring the role of the port in the Iraqi economy, Al Jazeera reported. The Jordanian and Iraqi transport ministers signed the deal. Judges said during the signing that the project aims at developing cooperation and integration between the two countries in the safe and secure transport of good and people across their borders. The train will cross 1150 kilometers and run at a speed of 140 kilometers per hour.
