Started in August 1999, with 10 men under the guidance of Jose Bove vandalized a McDonalds restaurant under construction in the town of Millau Bove and its compatriots became face of anti-globalization movement in France

The protest against globalization led by Bove, received a shot in the arm when Bove turned up at the WTO meet in Seattle

A proposed vineyard in France was stalled by Bove with the help of local politician in the name of preserving ecological heritage
