ADVANCED TRAUMA LIFE SUPPORT (ATLS) COURSE

COURSE INFORMATION

PROVIDER COURSE FOR DOCTORS The ATLS Course is an intensive 2 day course designed by the American College of Surgeons to equip the participant with the knowledge, technical skills and decision making skills to improve the care of patients with multiple injuries. In order to maintain high standards and adequate supervision, only 16 participants are taken for each course. WHO SHOULD ATTEND Surgical trainees, Accident & Emergency physicians, search and rescue doctors, military doctors and doctors working in rural areas and war zones.

INSTRUCTOR COURSE FOR DOCTORS The ATLS Instructor Course is an intensive 1 day course designed by ATLS Educators of the American College of Surgeons to train Instructors effective teaching skills and methods. The Course will teach potential instructors how to give interactive lectures, teach in skill stations, lead small group discussions and manage difficult and disruptive students. In order to maintain close supervision and high standards, only 9 candidates are selected for each ATLS Instructor Course. WHO SHOULD ATTEND A participant cannot apply to undergo the Instructor Course. Candidates are chosen from those who pass with Instructor Potential at ATLS Provider Courses and are invited by CSAMM to undergo the Instructor Course. It is an honour to be an ATLS Instructor and an ATLS Instructor can teach in any ATLS centre worldwide.
