Could the League of Nations have made a difference in the outbreak of WW2?

Lily Huang 10G, D1P1 Yes, I do think that the League of Nations could have made a difference in the outbreak of WW2. To fully explain my answer, I will first restate some of the biggest causes of World War 2 and then state if these causes could have been assuaged by the League of Nations. One of the biggest causes of World War 2 is the unfairness of the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles forced Germany to decrease military power, pay a huge some of reparation fees, lose territory and accept all blame for WW1. The German people thought this treaty much to harsh and Germany could not afford to pay the money. German people became very poor; jobs became scarce and basic goods too expensive. In solution, the Germans voted to power Adolf Hitler, a man who promised to rip up the Treaty of Versailles and whose actions would be significant to the outbreak of war. Hitler was a powerful leader and slowly began making nearby countries (e.g. Austria) German through military force and propaganda. Chamberlain, PM of Britain often had conferences with German officials, asking the country to stop all invasions. The PM felt that Germany had been in fact treated unfairly with the Treaty, and appeased with agreements offering land to Germany. Hitler agreed to the freebie, but wasnt too loyal as he proceeded to overtake the rest of Czechoslovakia and ultimately, Poland. These two major causes of the war could have easily been prevented by the League of Nations. If the League of Nations had been fairer with the Treaty of Versailles, Germany would not have become such a destitute country. People would be wealthier, and more secure with the current economical and political stances. Hitler would have maybe never been brought to parliament, and without the power of being in office, Hitler would have never been able to attack and expand into Europe. In addition, Chamberlain could have worked with a less scheming politician to correct the punishments of WW1 decreasing the amount tension between Germany and the rest of Europe. This cooperation between nations in Europe would have ultimately prevented another World War.
